The Importance of Fit: Finding Gymwear That Flatters Your Body Tuesday, 07 January 2025

BACK TO BLOG

Gymwear that fits properly is essential for optimizing your workout not only for confidence but comfort too.

The Power of a Good Fit:

Confidence, even if you lack it or do not feel comfortable with your body. Gymwear is made to fit YOU, not the other way around. Having a gym set that sculpts and supports all your curves is paramount. This is why at I Am Me we use materials and designs that promise this to our customers.

Going to the gym in an outfit that you feel like you in, then you are bound to care less about what others think of you whilst you workout. Meaning you will work harder.

Never be afraid to size up or size down, you need to be able to have full range of motion when exercising.

If your gymwear doesn’t fit right, you can almost guarantee that you will be distracted from your session and will not reach full potential. Whether you find yourself worrying about people standing behind you when you are doing squats and lunges or if you are pulling your leggings up every time you take a stride. This is not something you should put up with.

Endurance and Performance:

Did you know poorly fitting gym wear can increase your chance of injury? Compression garments can aid in muscle recovery and increase your energy by promoting blood flow.

Having a sports bra or top that is supportive, and fluid means that your posture and stability is also improved when doing weightlifting or cardio.

Choosing the Right Gymwear for Your Body Shape:

Having a basic understanding of your body shape can be really helpful when picking out the right pieces for you. These are the four most common body shapes, lets talk through what each of them can look like to help you discover yours.

Hourglass: High-waisted leggings and supportive tops that accentuate the waist.

Apple: Tops with structured support or A-line cuts to balance proportions.

Pear: Leggings with wider waistbands and tops that provide balance to the hips.

Athletic: Form-fitting clothes that highlight natural curves or tapered designs. Offer options for both tops and bottoms, such as bras, leggings, shorts, and tanks.

Rectangle: Try to avoid loose-fitting clothes, trying to accentuate your waist. Your shoulders, waist and hips will be in line with each other. Long tight-fitting tops and high waisted leggings are your friend.

If you still really struggle with feeling comfortable working out, especially in a public setting. Pairing our slimming black leggings with an oversized tee never goes a miss. Just size up from your usual top size and voila.
